Paddy cultivation continues to be an important part of Kottayam’s agricultural landscape, particularly in low-lying areas connected with the Upper Kuttanad region. The district Agriculture Department supports food and cash-crop production through cultivation programmes, improved planting materials and scientific farming practices.
